This Florida Board of Opticianry Laws and Rules continuing education (CE) course provides a structured and detailed exploration of Florida’s legal and regulatory framework for opticianry. Covering Chapters 64B12-8 through 64B12-16 of the Florida Administrative Code and Chapter 484 of the Florida Statutes, this course prepares licensed opticians, apprentices, and CE providers to operate lawfully, ethically, and competently within the state. Topics include licensure, apprenticeship supervision, CE requirements, fees, disciplinary procedures, and board certification. Each module builds core knowledge and reinforces best practices for compliance and professional responsibility.

Michael Yu, MS, MBA, MLS (ASCP), RHIA, is a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist in California, Florida, and Hawaii, certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP. He holds a Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from George Washington University and a Master of Business Administration from Loma Linda University.

Michael Yu served as the phlebotomy program lecturer for the UCLA School of Medicine, Center for Prehospital Care. He has also taught in the graduate Biomedical Informatics program at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).
